Cupcakes vs Cancer

Hi Everyone,

April is soon approaching and Grammie is getting ready for Spring activities. The first one to come up is Cupcakes vs Cancer- The Asheville Cupcake Competition a benefit for the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society is my philanthropic organization that I like to raise funds for because I have lost both parents to Cancer. So this year when I was able to enter into the Asheville's chapter 3rd Annual Cupcake competition, I couldn't wait to "bake" at the chance.

Date of the competition is April 21, 2012 at the Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa from 2pm to 4pm. If you are here locally and want to attend the event you can click here and go to their website. Tickets are $25.00 for adults this gives you 10 tickets to enjoy your choice of cupcakes. If you purchase your tickets online before April 16th you are able to get in at 1:30pm. Kids get in free. All proceeds go to American Cancer Society.

I am entering in the Best Retro Cupcake category with my Southern Belle Red Velvet Cupcake. This is my number one seller at the tailgate market and also requested when I cater an event. This is my first competition and I am excited and also nervous all at the same time.

Next activity is the East Asheville Tailgate Market. It starts Friday May 18, 2012 from 3pm to 6pm at Groce United Methodist Church corner of Tunnel Rd and Beverly Rd. This is a Farmers market with some craft vendors. It is your one stop shop for fresh, organic, local product from veggies, baked goods, meats and so much more. Plus you'll get to meet local farmers and vendors from the NC area and me Grammie! Hope to see ya there every Friday from 3 to 6 pm.

Spring is in the Air

Hi Everyone,

It has been a long and slow winter, but spring is finally starting to come alive here in Asheville. Trees are in bloom, grass is green, birds are singing and warmer temperatures are setting in. This has made Grammie excited and come out of hibernation. So the kitchen has been all a buzz these last few weeks with working on some of my classic recipes but also working on some new soon to be favorites recipes loved by all.

So to kick off this Spring season, Grammie has open the kitchen back up for weekly order starting  April 2nd. If you live in the Asheville area and place your order by noon Mon-Thur it will be delivered the next business day by 8am. There will be a selected menu to chose from. At the top that of this web page there will be a tab that  will say "Weekly Menu" and the instruction on how to order will be there.

Also the East Asheville Tailgate Market will be starting come May. I will have more details of day and time for you soon. It will be at the Groce United Methodist Church located at 954 Tunnel Rd Asheville, NC 28805.
